Heart Health Imperative During COVID-19, Even in Younger Patients, Trends Suggest

While older adults have been well warned to practice caution during the COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the world, younger adults have seemed to be caught off guard by what’s being considered more severe symptoms. Initially, trends showed that older adults were more affected and prone to severe symptoms than any other age group, but as the number of people infected with COVID-19 has increased, doctors have noticed a disturbing trend: relatively healthy young adults are being impacted with severe complications, including stroke.

Adults ranging from age 30 to 40 are now being warned that they could be susceptible to stroke as a complication of the COVID-19 infections, and what’s even more troublesome is that they could have very little warning before experiencing a stroke along with the novel coronavirus.

Doctors at Mt. Sinai have reported this unusual trend, stating that they have seen a seven-fold increase in stroke accounts in young patients. These patients, for the most part, have had no previous medical history of major health problems - much fewer heart conditions - and many have had no or little symptoms of COVID-19, although they did test positive.

Stroke is dangerous for anyone. It’s caused by blood clots that become lodged in the brain and essentially cut off oxygen to the brain, thereby causing brain cell death. Some of the first symptoms of stroke include arm weakness, facial droop, and speech difficulties. Perhaps the biggest factor in the successful treatment of a stroke is rapid response. The treatment has been shown to be much more effective when it’s administered as soon as possible, preferably within 6 hours of the onset of symptoms. Too much time lapse means more brain cell death, which is largely irreparable.

For adults in their 30s and 40s, this trend means one thing: you could be a carrier for COVID-19 and never know it, and you could be affected by a stroke at the same time. Now is the time to ensure that your heart is as healthy as possible.

Of course, diet and exercise are a key component to heart health. Keeping any heart or blood conditions in check is important, as always. There are supplements that can also be beneficial to heart health. All-natural Alistrol is clinically proven to strengthen the heart muscle while increasing blood & oxygen flow to all arteries in the human body.
